The orbiter is a little assistant which extracts information from media server projects and makes it available for the UNIVERSE-Project. By this, parameters like timeline-IDs do not have to be entered manually but can be picked easily from the dropdown list.

Each Orbiter distinguishes between 3 states/conditions:


red

no data available

yellow

valid data available but not used in UNIVERSE project

green

valid data available and active in UNIVERSE


Furthermore, the UNIVERSE-Project can be synchronised constantly with the media server project via the Permanent Reading parameter. Changes in the media server project, like the renaming of a sequence, will be transferred to UNIVERSE immediately after saving without any necessary action from the user.


At present there are Orbiters for the media servers Pandoras Box, Watchout and Ventuz available. For the Orbiter of Pandoras Box and Watchout the respective project file is necessary. Therefore, the Orbiter can also be used when the media server is offline or not even present. Working on the project in the respective media server will not be affected by this. For the Ventuz-Orbiter, an online connection to a Ventuz system with the project loaded is necessary.


All orbiters can be switched active or inactive. Information that has already been registered manually and deviates from the Orbiter’s information will not be overwritten but added in the drop-down list.
